Superman Returns “Capture Lex and Win” Sweepstakes Interactive Website

Tribal DDB Agency charged production with the task of casting and filming all of the video elements and video story chapters for the "Capture Lex and Win" contest for the feature film release Superman Returns. Employing production stills provided by Warner Brothers of Production Designer Guy Hendrix Dyas' Metropolis required securing locations in Dallas that echoed the designs of influential early-mid twentieth century American architects and artists such as Edward Hopper, Frank Lloyd Wright, Louis Henry Sullivan and Raymond Hood. The mix of landmarks, styles and periods represented in most modern cities inspired the 'classic tone' seen in the film.

Pepsi offered a guaranteed $1 million reward to the winner of the national "Capture Lex and Win" sweepstakes. To play, consumers entered codes found on specially-marked packages of Pepsi products at www.DailyPlanet.com and viewed a video story where contestants learned insightful clues as to the whereabouts of Lex Luthor. Each code entry automatically entered the consumer into a Grand Prize drawing for the $1 million cash reward for capturing Lex Luthor. The site included a range of interesting features, such as the first chapter of an online comic called "The Hunt for Lex Luthor" with chapter one titled "M.I.A" and written by Gail Simone, with artwork by Derec Donovan. A new chapter was revealed each week.

PepsiCo, the film's official food and beverage partner, launched exclusive promotions, packaging and products tied to the movie's release. As part of the promotion, the Pepsi and Diet Pepsi brands each had a special design on its cans featuring the Superman shield against the can's graphics, while a limited-edition SoBe Superman energy drink was available in participating stores nationwide.
