One of the most exciting attractions at NRA's' Annual Meetings & Exhibits in Atlanta is the booth for the NRA Carry Guard initiative, complete with a virtual reality experience that perfectly encapsulates the program’s groundbreaking approach. A promotional video was created to communicate the experience of putting on the VR headset and acting out an immersive “use of force” scenario involving a confrontation with an armed criminal and challenges the viewer, "Are you prepared to properly defend yourself?" What this virtual reality experience teaches is a principle at the core of Carry Guard: Every defensive gun use has an aftermath, and a scenario that lasts only seconds can have consequences that stretch on for months or years. Are you prepared to properly defend yourself?
This project involved conceptualizing and creating a unique story telling experience employing VR and 360° video to create an onsite activation Virtual Reality experience. The VR experience appeared at tradeshows and conventions that attracted highly desired customers. They were placed as active characters in a "use of force" interactive 360° film that effectively demonstrated the need for the client's product and services. The participant then had a personal engagement with a Virtual RSO who would have a short conversation about what they observed and guide them to understand the importance to prepare responsible citizens who legally carry to effectively confront today’s evolving conflict environment. The live event interactive VR onsite activation experience increased target consumer engagement by 1,000 participants per event converting 15-30% into customers. The simulator has also appeared at exhibitions in Las Vegas, Milwaukee and Dallas.
